An Ungrateful Victim of Harm

What a strange incident, again in the centre of London. I was in the middle of Oxford Circus today, which was very busy as it was around 6pm. People were rushing to and fro, and I suddenly saw an African Caribbean women who was dressed quite smartly, coming my way. At the same time, there was a bus coming our way, so I pushed her out of the way lightly, which saved her getting hit by the bus. As we both carried down the road, another bus was heading for her She decided to cross the road at its busiest point, and a 25 bus was coming directly her way, not at all slowing down. I jumped into her path, and blocked her from progressing to her death--the bus whizzed past us like a fire-truck. Second time I save this woman's life, and she says 'if you leave me alone, I will be just fine!' I reponded, quite shocked, by saying, 'but I just saved your life...' To which se replied, please, just leave me alone. Perhaps she was trying to kill herself and I had saved her against her will, who knows.

The London tube

As a teacher in training, I have of course come acorss many people of many ages, and I must stress that what has seemed to come across to me is the way in which the elder generation are far more reserved than the younger generation. of course, this is generally the case, but it seems to eist to the extent that people now will ignore fights on the tube just because of it. it is as if Londoners live in thier own personal hub, only breaking out of it for necessity, like topping up an Oyster card. The younger generation are far more interactive, and far more full of life, which makes me wodner what we are teaching our younger generation by living such reserved lives...do we want them to be impervious to the pain and suffering of others just as we are?
